Mr. Aguirre used his AAS in Business Administration to attain the position of Account Manager at iPos, Internet Point of Sale, and fulfill his goal of having a “life better than what I had before studying”. His journey at ASA College wasn’t always easy. He had to balance the responsibilities of schoolwork and a full-time job, yet this pressure focused him. He applied everything he learned, especially the mock interview experience, and it put him in position to take advantage of the opportunities presented to him. Now he would have future students know, “it won’t be easy, but it’s not impossible, so stay hungry.”

She came to ASA College having already earned a degree in Translating/Interpreting before immigrating from Russia. Once here she realized she needed to build on her skillset to have a career in global marketing. She says her professors, especially Prof. Roberts, helped her understand how her international perspective was valuable: “They were always respectful, supportive, patient, and professional. I am grateful for the opportunity they gave me.” Currently, Ms. Erkenova is taking advantage of OPT as star Marketing Specialist for Flippo’s Hallandale.

“Having a degree is a way to demonstrate your capabilities and be a living example for all your friends and family. My daughter has been my number one motivation since she was born. I can say that all I am doing right now, it’s because of her, so she can see in her Mom as demonstrating responsibility, integrity, and dedication. I want her to see me as a living example to follow.”

Alvin Chingcuanco (Valedictorian, Class of 2014) has demonstrated endless drive and a special talent for leadership throughout his business career, which has included work with companies like Verizon Wireless and Nestle Health Sciences. According to Mr. Chingcuanco, he nurtured these abilities at ASA College while earning two Associates in Occupational Studies – Medical Assisting and Business Administration. “ASA College opened doors to new opportunities that brought me where I am now,” he says. Currently, he holds an MBA from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management and works as an Agency Project Manager at the marketing consultancy BNO Inc. We couldn’t be prouder of Mr. Chingcuanco, whose guiding principles of passion and excellence were evident even as a one-time member of the Career Services Department. Alvin, you are ASA’s Finest!

Three months after finishing his Criminal Justice major at ASA College, Mr. Sanat is already working for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office as Records Assistant. This was the sort of job he aspired to before enrolling at ASA because, as he says, “When I was child my dream was to be an Officer in order to help better our community.”
