News & Events

Though Professor Gibson passed away unexpectedly just a few days ago, he will live in our hearts forever.

He taught some of the most challenging subjects at ASA, including Statistics and Physics. However, he would have absolutely disagreed with the word “challenging”. He often said that there was no reason why all students could not excel at math. Which is to say, he believed in our students and was never deterred by their initial reluctance in taking his classes. Time and again, he succeed. He was able to bring the world of mathematics to students who had never seen themselves as math scholars. His classes, and the confidence with which they endowed students, changed the trajectories of many lives. His students knew their odds, and also knew they would be successful nevertheless.

We will miss seeing him and his gentle smile. A smile that could light up a room even on a dark day. We hope we may all remember that and carry his spirit with us.

We are taking a collection to send to Professor Gibson’s family. Please Zelle at 917-704-3399. Any amount (even $5) is appreciated.  100% collected will go directly to the family. Thank you!

Rest In Peace, Mr. Gibson.

We stand together

We stand together Laws and regulations that single out vulnerable members of our community are divisive and unjust. We stand together. International students representing over 125 countries are enrolled at ASA College. Over 30% percent of our student body is international. With the firmest conviction we believe that international students are crucial to ASA’s stated mission of educating a diverse and qualified student population. No institution of higher learning educates truly qualified students without the diversity of thought, perspectives, and...

President’s message on the current crisis

President’s message on the current crisis We remember vividly, when on March 13, 2020, we had just made the decision to transition our on-ground classes to online, due to a virus that had been posing a health threat in other parts of the world.  Over the next 2.5 months, this virus, known as COVID-19, became a once-in-a-century pandemic.  It attacked the lungs, and it made breathing difficult. How ironic that, over the past memorial weekend, “breathing difficult” became news again. ...
